Withdrawal and Refund Policies 

If you do not provide proper withdrawal notification to SAS, financial obligations will remain binding, regardless of whether classes were attended or whether any contracted services were utilized, and a final grade will be posted to your transcript. 

How do I withdraw from a course?
•    Log on to the SPU Student Portal by clicking "Login" at the top of this page and choosing "Student Login", and enter your username and password
•    Click on “My Enrollment History”
•    Click the "Request Drop" box next to the course you wish to drop 
•    Select a drop reason from the drop-down menu, add any extra information you believe is useful in the "Other" box, and click "Submit"
NOTE: Once you click "Submit" the drop is final. If you are due for a refund, refunds will be made within 7 business days of your drop to the credit card used at the time of registration. (See refund schedule below.)  

 

Refund Schedule 

Refunds are determined based on the schedule listed below.  

Refund Policy A: Courses Lasting One Year. A student must submit a written request to SPU Student Academic Services within 21 days of the course start date to receive a refund. No refunds will be made after 21 days, and no withdrawal will be accepted after the final class session. 

Refund Policy B: Conferences and Institutes. A student can receive a 95 percent refund prior to the first day of class. No refunds are made once the class has begun. 

Refund Policy C: Travel Courses. A refund for students enrolled in travel courses is determined independently by each travel program. 

Refund Policy D: Distance Learning Courses (online or correspondence). Withdrawal requests submitted within 3 days of the course start date will receive a 100 percent refund. Withdrawal requests submitted within 21 days of the course start date will receive a 95 percent refund.  No refunds will be given after 21 days, and no withdrawals will be accepted after the end date of the course. Please return all course materials you have received.

Refund Policy E: Non-Distance Learning Courses That Require Phone-In Registration. Students must submit a withdrawal letter to SPU Student Academic Services within 48 hours of the first class session to receive a refund. No withdrawals will be accepted after the final class session. 

Refund Policy F: Outside Agency Courses. SPU Tuition is non-refundable. Refund policies for course fees are determined by outside agency.

Refund Policy G: Online Courses (including Canvas). Withdrawals submitted before the first class session will receive a 100 percent refund. Withdrawals submitted within 7 days of the first class session will receive a 95 percent refund. Withdrawals submitted after that point will not receive a refund and no withdrawals will be accepted after the last course session. 

Refund Policy L: Endorsement Field Experience Pedagogy Assessment. All requests for withdrawal for a 50 percent refund must be made within 14 days of the course start date. No refunds will be given after that date. Please contact endorse@spu.edu for withdrawal request form and instructions.
