Course Description

Provides information on what scientifically-based research means and discusses the myths and misconceptions of science. Discusses the various types of research and the constraint levels in educational research. Covers the internal and external validity of educational research. Examines quasi-experimental design, pre-experimental design, and single case design. Presents information on replication and research synthesis, and discusses evaluation instruments for Stage 1 of a Reading First program. This is the first course in a three-course series. It is recommended, but not required, that these courses be taken in order.
