Course Description

In this class, participants learn brushwork techniques by studying traditional subjects: bamboo, wild orchid, chrysanthemum, and plum blossom. Specific tools, materials, and tonal values are taught. Students explore the exhibition Isamu Noguchi and Qi Baishi: Beijing 1930 and are introduced to brush calligraphy, the ancient art from which ink and brush painting evolved.


This course can be taken for either credit or clock hours. Clock hours are available under CEU 3651.
