Course Description

An essential class for building foundation skills in watercolor painting. Students receive detailed instruction and training for mastering watercolor materials and techniques. Practice effective brush handling, work with wet and dry paper and mix color successfully. While experimenting with different pigments and textures, students also learn to create negative space, resulting in rich watercolor paintings.


Learner Outcomes

This course is designed to produce basic skills in watercolor painting for the novice, for use in the classroom as well as personal use in the studio. The students will gain an introductory knowledge of the traditional methods of using watercolor and materials, and will have the necessary experience to conduct watercolor projects in the classroom and to further study in intermediate level watercolor classes.


This course can be taken for credit or clock hours. Clock hours are available under CEU 2403.
