Course Description

Learn internet and TI-83+/TI-84+ graphing calculator skills for the statistics classroom. Explore topics, aligned with the NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics and Common Core State Standards, such as summary statistics, weighted mean, linear regression, correlation, probability computations, stat plots, binomial distribution, normal distribution, central limit theorem and generating random numbers. Learn how to practice responsible use of graphing technology. Engage in real-world activities you can immediately use to teach all students.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the functionality of TI-83Plus and TI-84 Plus family of graphing calculators for teaching and learning Statistics.
  • Create activities for the statistics classroom using the ideas, skills and strategies presented in this course.
  • Create an instructional unit incorporating use of of TI-83Plus and TI-84 Plus family of graphing calculators.
  • Design lesson plans that align with CCSS and NCTM Standards.
