Course Description

This course is designed to provide special educational professionals with technical and practical information, regarding the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Specific compliance IEP requirements in Washington State will be covered, along with a variety of suggestions, tips and resources for best practice.

Learner Outcomes

  • Participants will increase their knowledge regarding current compliance regulations in Washington State surrounding the provision of special education students in one or more of the following areas: Evaluations, IEPs, Functional Behavior Assessments, Positive Behavior Supports, Post-Secondary Transition Planning and Progress Monitoring.
  • Participants will identify current practices in their setting, which may need to be adjusted and aligned in order to meet compliance requirements in one or more of the following areas: Evaluations, IEPs, Functional Behavior Assessments, Positive Behavior Supports, Post-Secondary Transition Planning and Progress Monitoring.
  • Participants will identify current practices in their setting, which may need to be adjusted and improved if they want to implement effective practices that go beyond compliance requirements in one or more of the following areas: Evaluations, IEPs, Functional Behavior Assessments, Positive Behavior Supports, Post-Secondary Transition Planning and Progress Monitoring

This course can be taken for credit or clock hours. Clock hours are available under CEU 3911.
