Course Description

This is a U.S. History course targeting 10 events in our history that made a big difference. The course centers on a DVD where 10 acclaimed documentary filmmakers present 10 moments of history and the often unexpected changes they triggered. It offers a perspective of history not only from historians, but also from varies sources including: the people of the time, former President of the United States, scientific scholar, from a battle between management and labor, to the end of relatively peaceful coexistence between the Native Americans and the English settlers. The course highlights days in history that lead up to great events. It highlights parts of our history that we rarely hear about in school and show how events from the past affected our future. This class will give the student a look at our history from the early settlers up to 1964 and show them how one event is able to alter history.
