Course Description

This course is designed for educators and school or district based teams interested in developing efficient, positive protocols for addressing the needs of students with social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.

Course Outline

  • Social, emotional, and behavioral pathways linking evidence based interventions to specific student needs
  • A plan for screening, internalizing, and externalizing behaviors
  • Tier 1 - school-wide and classroom management
  • Tier 2 – Definition and interventions
  • Tier 3 – Definition and interventions
  • Using Response to Intervention for identifying Tier 4 (when necessary)

Learner Outcomes

Participants of this course will:

  1. Learn how to develop efficient, positive protocols for addressing the needs of students with social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
  2. Learn how to set up placement pathways, based on evidenced based interventions.
  3. Be able to develop a plan for screening, internalizing and externalizing behaviors.
  4. Know when Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) are necessary.
  5. Learn the top 10 classroom management strategies for all students.
  6. Learn school-wide and classroom management strategies for Tier 1
  7. Know the definition of and specific interventions for Tier 2
  8. Know the definition of and specific interventions for Tier 3
  9. Learn how to use Response to Intervention for identifying Tier 4 (when necessary)
