Course Description

Learn TI-83+/84+ graphing calculator skills for the pre-calculus classroom. Methods align with NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics and Common
Core State Standards. Engage in real-world activities you can immediately use in the classroom. Understand functions, inverses, transformations, composition of functions, absolute-value functions, polynomials, inequalities, logarithms, power and exponential functions, piecewise functions, systems of equations, trig functions and identities, periodic data, polar graphs, parametric equations, curve fitting, conic sections, complex numbers, vectors, velocity graphs, data analysis, and other topics.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the TI-83Plus and TI-84 Plus family of graphing calculators and TI-Connect for teaching and learning mathematics.
  • Create mathematics activities for secondary and college-level students using the ideas, skills and strategies in the activities presented in this course.
  • Create an instructional unit incorporating use of graphing technology.
  • Design lesson plans that align with CCSS and NCTM Standards.
