Course Description

Accordion books have appeared across centuries in both Western and Eastern cultures. Artists, photographers, printmakers, writers, illustrators can all make use of the endless possibilities of this format (which is also known as a concertina). Participants will incorporate techniques such as folding, sewing, pop-ups and weaving in both hard cover and soft cover and will take away a number of samples and models. All materials and supplies will be provided. No experience necessary.


Wear clothing that can get dirty or get glue on it, or bring an apron instructor to provide all other materials and supplies.

This course can either be taken for credit or clock hours. Credit is available under ART 5676.

Preregistration is required by signing up for the class first through Frye Art Museum by clicking here. Once you have preregistered through Frye Art Museum, you will be given a link to register for credit or clock hours through Seattle Pacific University.
Additional $170 course fee for member or $110 course fee for non-members payable to Frye Art Museum.

Refund Policy: Withdrawals submitted Online through SPU prior to the first day of class will receive a 100% refund of SPU Tuition. No refunds will be given once the course has begun, and no withdrawals will be accepted after the final session.
