This course, written for middle/high school general music & music theory educators, will provide powerful tools to teach elements of thinking in sound, and ideas for creative activities using popular & world music to teach rhythm, harmony, and melody. Participants will become acquainted with software applications, including: O-Generator, Soundtrap, Soundation, Noteflight, Sight Reading Factory, Musition, Auralia, and Focus on Sound, as well as a wealth of purpose-built content available in the MusicFirst Library.
By the end of the course, participants will possess necessary skills to manage classes and facilitate student learning with the MusicFirst Classroom platform. Participants will be able to select and schedule content from the MusicFirst Library, which includes full course curricula and special topics. They will be able to create new lessons that include multimedia content and integrated software. Participants will be able to use and assign student work with online software including O-Generator, Soundtrap, Soundation, Noteflight, Sight Reading Factory, Musition, Auralia, and Focus on Sound.
