Course Description

This certification course for elementary school general music teachers is designed to help you master all essential functions in MusicFirst Junior (MFJ) and become comfortable with the integrated software. In the first portion of the course, participants will learn about the general structure & functionality of the MFJ platform, including: class management, the content cloud, content creation, and user modes. The second half of the course will cover integrated software, including: Groovy Music, Morton Subotnick’s Music Academy, and InstrumentsFirst.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will possess necessary skills to manage classes and facilitate student learning with the MusicFirst Junior platform. Participants will be able to select and schedule content from the MusicFirst Junior Library, which includes a comprehensive K-12 music curriculum and special topics including Boomwhacker, recorder, and ukulele lessons. They will be able to create new lessons that include multimedia content. Participants will be able to use and assign student work with online software including Groovy Music, Morton Subotnick’s Music Academy, and InstrumentsFirst.

Course is self-paced. Completion time is one year from date of enrollment.

Refund Policy: Withdrawals submitted online through SPU within 7 days of enrollment will receive a 95% refund. Withdrawals received after that point will not receive a refund and no withdrawals will be accepted after the completion deadline for the course.
