Course Description

This course is designed to give participants the experience of Socratic Seminars first hand. Participants discover the power of Socratic Seminars to actively engage students of all ability levels in critical reading and critical thinking of provocative texts. Participants experience a main Socratic Seminar, reflect on the process, practice Socratic Questioning Strategies, learn the fundamentals of writing Opening Questions, participate in and lead Socratic Seminars with colleagues, and discover how Socratic Seminars teach to local and Common Core State Standards.

Notes

This course can either be taken for credit or clock hours. Credit is available under EDCT 5306.
