Course Description

What is dyslexia and how can I help? The goal of this course is to provide teachers with practical information and strategies that they can use to create a dyslexia-friendly classroom with appropriate accommodations and evidence-based strategies that can help the 15-20% of their students who may struggle with dyslexia in areas of reading, writing, and spelling, but also general classroom learning. The course will include topics such as the strengths side of dyslexia, structured literacy, working and long term memory, twice exceptionality (gifted with dyslexia), dyslexia in English Language Learners, and social and emotional issues such as imposter syndrome.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will have acquired practice knowledge in the recognition, remediation, and support of all the dyslexic students in their classes.
