Course Description

EDCN 5730 is the final requirement for SPU endorsement programs. This course provides the opportunity for an independent field experience in the new endorsement subject area. Each candidate will develop one unit plan in the new endorsement subject area and teach approximately 10 lessons in the appropriate classroom setting. At least two lessons will be observed by an assigned SPU Supervisor. One lesson will be observed by a Mentor Teacher (chosen by candidate). Participants will develop final portfolio documenting positive impact on student learning, as well as knowledge and teaching skills gained in the new endorsement area.

Application must be submitted online by 10/31/2026. No candidate may register without an approved application and a passing WEST-E score on file. The registration deadline is December 15, 2026 by the end of the day.

Course Material Access: All course materials and assignments will be available to students via Canvas. (Access instructions for Canvas will be provided on registration receipt.) SPU Field Experience Supervisor contact information will be shared on the start date of the course.

Refund Policy: Withdrawal requests submitted online through SPU within 14 days of course start date will receive a 50 percent refund. No refunds will be given after that date.
