CEU 4018 - Cultural Competency, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in K-12 Classroom
Course Description
This course equips educators to cultivate culturally responsive, inclusive, and equitable learning environments. Rooted in the belief that all people are created in the image of God (Imago Dei), the course integrates Cultural Competency, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CCDEI) standards with principles of justice, compassion, humility, and love. The course emphasizes developing relationships marked by empathy, respect, and servant leadership. Participants will learn to communicate across cultures, honor the voices and experiences of students and families, and create inclusive spaces where all individuals feel a sense of belonging. Special attention is given to engaging families and communities as partners in the educational process, recognizing their strengths and contributions. Educators will also explore collaborative practices that reflect community, fostering shared responsibility, mutual accountability, and collective flourishing. Participants will examine systemic inequities in education and discern faithful responses that promote justice, reconciliation, and restoration.
