Course Description

Eliminating the reading achievement gap is essential for long-term school success. Aimed at K-4th grades, this course shifts the current linear model to a cyclical process of multifaceted interactions that better reflect the complexities of early literacy, with an emphasis on constructing knowledge together in the context of vibrant learning communities. Focused on reading, writing, and word study in the primary grades, it provides educators with research, strategies, structure, and support necessary to revise current practices so that all children, regardless of ethnic, racial, or socioeconomic deterrents, will read for meaning before grade 4.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Utilize the Cycle of Responsibility
