Course Description

This workshop is designed to help educators and educational professionals who wish to proactively identify and address structural barriers to equity, both in their own schools and in the communities in which their schools are located. Over the course of this workshop. participants will practice reframing problems surrounding cultural, institutional, and personal barriers to equity and will identify solutions with an equity lens.

Learner Outcomes

Educators and education professionals will be prepared to effectively address structural barriers to equity through advocacy and organizing. Through the workshop, participants will learn to:

  • develop a common language to communicate with other educators and community stakeholders
  • explain how personal, cultural, and institutional barriers to equity are interrelated
  • gain familiarity with problem identification and solution based approaches
  • complete needs assessments and value-based leadership qualifications

This course can be taken for credit or clock hours. Clock hours are available under CEU 3886.
