Course Description

This course reviews the history and theories of early childhood special education and the developmentally appropriate practices for teaching young children with special needs. Students will learn how to use assessment results to plan individual educational programs for young children with special needs. Family environmental influences on child development and communication strategies to build family supports are included.

While this course has no formally scheduled class sessions, it does require weekly participation in class bulletin board discussions. Please note that the course will not show up in your Canvas account until the start date.


Refund Policy: Withdrawals submitted online through SPU prior to the first class session will receive a 100% refund. Withdrawals submitted online within 7 days of the first class session will receive a 95% refund. Withdrawals received after that point will not receive a refund and no withdrawals will be accepted after the last class session.
