This course is designed to help you to create a classroom environment where students with autism are able to thrive under your empathetic and understanding guidance. As you read and reflect on the text "Uniquely Human: A Different Way of Seeing Autism" by Barry M. Prizant, PhD, you will examine your own biases and prior knowledge and apply new ideas for supporting students with autism and their families. At the end of this course you will have gained a better understanding of what autism is and how to help those with autism thrive in your classroom setting. Grades K-12.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book. I am sharing with others how much I have learned, and I have been working in the field for 18+ years so I feel like it is such a valuable tool. - Winter 2018 Student
This book has impacted not just how I see and interact with my students with autism, but how I interact with all students as well as my own child. - Winter 2018 Student
