Course Description

How do you ensure all students are engaged each day in meaningful, challenging, and joyful work? Stress permeates kids’ lives and well-being at home and school. Even though exercise is proven to reduce stress, educational demands have made children more sedentary during their school day. This course provides evidence-based principles of “creative relaxation, in which students feel safe, engaged, successful, and independent. Kinesthetic movement and yoga uses focusing activities, relaxation techniques, mindful practices, and self-calming skills. These skills have been shown to address bullying behaviors, students with autism and special needs, and promote overall resilience and executive function.
