Course Description

The purpose of this course is to introduce participants to the methods, analyses and evaluation techniques employed in educational action research. Educators and educational leaders face an increasing demand to demonstrate evidence-based, culturally responsive solutions for a variety of complex problems. It is crucial they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively gather, evaluate and interpret research on educational topics, how issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are part of the work being conducted.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will have:

  • Developed the skills necessary to evaluate and interpret research studies, particularly through a lens of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Practiced gathering and making sense of empirical data
  • Begun research into literature related to your chosen area of study, and receive constructive feedback from classmates
